Show Rules 2024

 

 1.Membership will be required to show and is valid for calendar year in which purchased.

2. Entries for each class will close when preceding class is called to the holding area.

3. The same horse/pony may not be ridden more than once in the same class (except 8 and under trail and timed events).

4. An entry who is led (not including lead-line classes) will enter as an exhibition ride and will not place.

5. Each rider’s age is determined as of January 1

6. Height Limits:  

  a. Small ponies up to and including 50″   

  b. Large ponies over 50” up to and including 57”

  c. 8 and under – mount must be 57″ & under 

  d. Pony – riders 13 & under, pony 57″ & under 
  e. 13 and under classes – any size mount 

  f. Youth classes – riders 18 and under               
  g. Adult classes – riders 19 and over 

  h. Halter – any age exhibitor 
  i.  Lead-line equitation any size mount – rider 6 & under        

  j. Lead-line trail any size mount – rider 8 & under
6. Ponies entered in pony classes will be measured, carded and may enter at this size for the season.   
7. No stallions over 1 year old allowed on grounds.
8. Junior horse (5 & under) ridden in non-shank snaffle or bosal; may be ridden two-handed in all classes.
9. All riders must wear long pants and western or English boots.
10. All numbers must be visible. Each number equals one horse/rider combination.
11. Six places will be named in each class or event. All must be qualified rides. (Payback first 4 places.)
12. Upon entering the show grounds, all persons take responsibility for the actions of their animals and themselves.

    a. Show management may suspend such exhibitor’s rights to participate in classes during that show; decision is final.

    b.The offending person(s) may be asked to leave the premises. 

    c.The board will determine suspension from future shows as deemed appropriate. 

 13. Instances of unsportsmanlike conduct or inhumane treatment of animals will be determined by show management.
        a. Unsportsmanlike conduct may include: irresponsible, illegal, indecent, profane, intimidating, threatening, or abusive language or actions.
        b. Inhumane treatment may include but is not limited to: intentional or negligent treatment that results in raw spots or bleeding, hitting the horse in front of saddle, excessive spurring, whipping, spinning, excessive jerking on reins.
14. Horses or trailers are not allowed in the spectator area or on grassy areas.
15. All horses/ponies must go to the designated hold area when the class is called. Failure to enter the arena on the third call will result in a disqualification.
     a. Horses/ponies are not to run, except in the designated warm up area.
16. Tack changes for entries in back-to-back classes must be done in the holding area.
17. Timed events: A broken pattern results in a disqualification. Riding helmets are encouraged

  a. Barrel and pole rules: Knocking over a barrel or pole results in a 5 second penalty for each occurrence.
  b. Flag race rules: Failure to pick up the flag or stick flag within cylinder, or knocking over a barrel or bucket results in disqualification.
  c. Jumping figure 8 rules: Knocking over a barrel, refusing the jump 3 times or knocking over the jump or breaking the pattern results in a no-time. Helmets are required.
18. Trail class rules: Rider must move to next obstacle after 3 unsuccessful attempts
19. Queen contestants must have been a member last year and the current year and must meet the deadline for returning their Resume.

20. No refunds may be given except in case of hardship or weather at the discretion of the show committee; no reruns for failure of equipment.
21. Cancellation of a show in progress shall result in a refund for classes not completed.
22. Show Committee has the authority to make decisions regarding cancellations, additions or splitting/combining of classes if done before the event begins and is announced to all participants.
